The competitive League of Legends season peaks this fall. Riot Games brings the 2026 World Championship back to North America, setting up a massive tour across the continent. Top teams from every major region clash for the Summoner’s Cup and a multi-million dollar prize pool. Fans tracking the heavy favorites often look for the best places to wager on the matches. You can review offshore betting apps with esports odds to keep your wagers secure before the opening matches begin. We break down the tournament structure, the top regional contenders, and the road to the Brooklyn finals.
Breaking Down the Swiss Stage and Playoffs
The tournament uses a strict multi-stage format to eliminate weaker rosters early. The action starts with the Play-In Stage, where lower-seeded teams fight for a chance to reach the main event. Surviving teams advance to the Swiss Stage. This format pits teams with identical win-loss records against each other. Securing three match wins guarantees a spot in the Knockout Stage, and losing three matches sends a squad packing.
The Knockout Stage throws the final eight teams into a single-elimination bracket. Every match here plays out as a Best-of-Five series. One bad draft or a missed smite completely ruins a team’s championship run.
| Tournament Phase | 2026 Location | Format Details |
| Play-In Stage | Riot Games Arena, Los Angeles | Best-of-Three elimination |
| Swiss Stage | Chicago | 3 Wins advance, 3 Losses eliminate |
| Knockout Stage | Atlanta | Single-elimination bracket |
| Grand Finals | Barclays Center, Brooklyn | Best-of-Five Championship |
